Most often clients come to a massage session thinking it is safe to be worked on, but they may have a pathology or medication they are currently taking that poses a health risk to them or their massage therapist. When we have extended knowledge, it gives us more confidence as we make the decision if it is safe to proceed with massage therapy, modify the massage session, or avoid massage therapy all together. The client will appreciate and maybe be disappointed or even mad they can't have their massage, but in the end, it protects everyone, and may help take a potential lawsuit out of the equation.
This 9-hour NCBTMB approved CE course covers 148 pathologies (in alphabetical order), 133 drug classes as they pertain to the body system they are most commonly used to treat, healing responses, ice/heat therapies, mental, physical, and chemical stresses.
